A UNIQUE WATERSIDE LIFESTYLE

Set in a beautiful and secluded valley, yet in a central location Island Harbour is the perfect base from which to explore the Island and the Solent. Located in navigable water on the river Medina, the marina is approximately 2 miles upstream from Cowes, just above the Folly reach.

As a site of Special Scientific Interest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the marina is home to many species of birds and wildlife. Meadows and woodland copses slope down to the marina’s edge. A stroll along the nature trail allows you to fully appreciate the seclusion and tranquillity of the marina site. There are further beautiful country walks and Newport, the county town of the island, with its abundance of pubs, shops and restaurants, can be easily reached by a pleasant walk along the banks of the Medina.

The nearby Osborne House built by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria is an easy cycle ride, while Carisbrooke Castle, once one of the finest moated Norman Castles in southern England is situated close to Newport. Island Harbour is also the ideal spot from which to enjoy the island’s two fantastic music festivals, the Isle of Wight Festival and Bestival.

Facilities at the harbour are much improved with a newly renovated shower block and the instalment of a wireless network. The hard standing areas have also been upgraded and have water and electricity. The pontoons have all been either refurbished or renewed and benefit from fresh water, power, and lighting. In addition, there is extensive, free of charge waterside car parking. The marina has a depth of 2.5 metres following the dredging operation of the lock.

Cycling is an easy and scenic way of getting around the island, and we now offer a bike hire service. Bikes are provided with locks and helmets at a rate of £10 per day, plus a credit card deposit.

You may also arrange with the harbour master beforehand to pitch a tent on the recreational ground at the harbour at a cost of £11.50 per night. However it must be remembered that we are not a campsite, but offer this additional facility for the comfort and benefit of our guests.

The locked marina is a natural haven during the winter months, both afloat and ashore. There is ample hard standing for winter storage and Richardsons, the on site yard provide most of the services you’ll need.

Island Harbour staff are keen yachtsmen with many years of boating experience between them. They are friendly and professional, taking great pride in offering berth holders and visitors a very warm welcome.

We know that Island Harbour is one of the Solent’s best-kept secrets – so come and see for yourself!
