After leaving school (and some time before that) I have been in the boat industry, my first job was with High Performance Sailboats in Dorset building Fireball and Osprey dinghies, after a few years away from home I moved back to Grimsby to become a partner in Farrow & Chambers yacht builders , the company gradually grew and took on many “Blue Water “ cruising boat one off projects the most notable probably being the 43’ “Firefly” for Andrew Bray the then Editor of Yachting World magazine. The company has also built some very competitive racing boats. I have spent many a weekend enjoying dinghy racing and also cruiser racing which is where I met Roman, the other half of Boatshed Lincs, Romans background, apart from sailing of course, is engineering and management, his specialist subject is calling a spade a spade so you always know where you stand with him. We make a great team on Magnum, the SJ 35 we race and do the same with Boatshed Lincolnshire.

I recently bought a Hardy 20 from Boatshed Lincolnshire. John Chambers of Farrow and Chambers is Boatshed's local agent and it was a very pleasant and efficient experience dealing with him. I always felt that he gave me an accurate description of the boat - warts and all and the multiple photographs which are a Boatshed feature helped persuade me to make the long journey north to Grimsby from the south coast. Once there, John couldn't have been more helpful showing me the boat and organising the boat owner to give me a sea trial on the second day. Unfortunately an engine fault prevented this, but John worked with the owner to correct the fault and a few days later I made another trip to Grimsby. This time the trial was successful and then John put me in touch with a local surveyor and organised the lift out for the survey to take place. This too was successful and I transferred the balance of the purchase price and organised transport to bring the boat from Grimsby to Chichester. John worked with the transporter, the local marina and Chichester marina to organise the move so I did not have to travel north again or
indeed do much at all. The boat arrived safely yesterday and is now tucked up in her new berth.
I have no hesitation in recommending John's services to anyone.
