Last Friday was a great day for Boatshed Grand Union as I saw a wonderful
Dutch Barge - handed over to its new owner and another one listed on the site, It has taken a while to sell, boats of this size and specification don't come cheap and finding the right owner, at the right price, in a recession, takes time.

It was a very satisfying day for me when Jason Kay, who runs Denham Marina, put his trust in me to market his stunning boat for him. It was the biggest boat I had taken on soon after I started Boatshed Grand Union

I pushed the boat hard and did quite a few viewings, but potential buyers were usually stuck with money tied up in properties they could not sell.

I wrote articles about her for publication in the US, had her featured in Canals and Rivers Magazine as boat of the month, and on Boatshed.com as boat of the moment. I handled enquiries from the US, Barbados, Singapore and Thailand - Boatshed does have a wide International reach as well as a strong local presence.

Finally it was a local man Nigel, who looked at her, fell in love and bought her. Today was the day we completed the sale. It was good to see Nigel starting to move in and to hand over the cheque to Jason.

I really enjoy handling canal boats for sale on the Grand Union. Helping people to buy and sell their boats is a very satisfying life. Today was even more satisfying than most.

In one way it was sad to see her go - I had really enjoyed showing her off to customers. However, I got home that evening to discover that my colleague Alan had just listed an almost identical Bluewater Dutch Barge For Sale

A newer model with an even more amazing level of fit out and equipment.

So the Boatshed Grand Union fleet of boats for sale has a new flagship!
